Every locomotive in the Vintage Trains fleet exists because we chose to save it. Clun Castle and Earl of Mount Edgcumbe were both rescued from scrapyards, restored over years of skilled work, and returned to the mainline where they were always meant to run. That work doesn’t have an end point. Boilers need retubing, wheels need reprofiling, carriages need to be maintained to modern safety standards, and it all comes at a price. Ticket sales cover a significant part of those costs, but they do not cover it all, and donations are what close the gap.
